If you have to convince a spouse/partner in order to get your hands on a specific G you really feel you need, the answer could perhaps be maybe or even yes…
If constituting getting back the same amount of rands you initially paid to buy it, after some years, it’s plausible, depending on condition, workmanship and maintenance & what a rand can buy. If another better example is available, whenever then is etc. Thusfar purchase price has remained the cheapest part of owning any older car for me.
From what I have seen, well performed modifications, specifically those that are brand loyal- engine and styling wise, and that include features available in later models, or add to aesthetic appeal and drive-ability / pleasure has a market.
More original G’s seem to maintain value well and change hands much quicker when brought to market if compared to heavily modified offerings in general, though.
There are multiple threads on the forum with info on bakkies, the ones we got in RSA and discussions on those which we didn’t get as well as some ads and treads with modified G’s and some previously advertised prices including Schmeudes. One specific example that seemed to be in very good condition that sold in a fairly similar pricing bracket mentioned, and others requiring more love for differing values etc which you may find interesting for reference - if you haven’t paged through them already.
Ultimately second hand vehicle prices remain a willing buyer willing seller scenario in my eyes.
Will someone else buy what you have for sale and are they willing and able to pay what you want or did- on that hindsight would probably be the most honest advisor.
