I need to replace engine mounts on my 1984 W460 230GE and did some searching on here. Am I correct in saying/thinking that the Ssangyong 290 engine mounts are the same. Can I use these mounts instead of the OEM mounts which are much more expensive?

Thanks

They will fit, on a 230GE (being a lighter engine) they should last quite long.

They will fit. I had them on my OM606 conversion and they lasted shy of 60kkm. I now replaced with OEM and will see how long these last. But for the price difference I think it is worth a shot to see if they are good as they are about a 10th of the price of OEM.

60kkm is good enough for me considering price and the fact that I don't drive the car often. Will last years. The price difference is indeed huge.

Ssangyong worked well for me on om617 for few years until a conrod came through block. Just try keep oil and fuel off it. I had a leak which made rubber deteriorate but still worked. I was tempted to fit a heat shield on exhaust side but never got around to it.

I bought a pair of Ssangyong engine mounts for my 1988 230GE auto a few years ago, for R700 for both of them. They weren't exactly the same, but are interchangeable and have quietly done their job ever since.

Update: purchased mounts at Korean motor spares in Pretoria CBD. R1000 for 2. These come with pre-installed bolts with a fine thread so I had to get SS nuts to match + washers. No more uncomfortable vibes. Thanks for all the input gents. Now to source auto transmission mount. Any ideas as to where to get these apart from dealer?
