If you want to see more let me know, maybe Bike Pics are Verboten.
I personally am processing a hissy-fit. Especially about the Orange Fan-boy thing on my thread.

Is that Proper G Bike yours?
It is.

Its a 2 wheel G and ticks many of my current boxes, one of which is going mostly solo on very back roads with minimal kit to pleasant places. (That Karoo mountain pass you show Ernst, causes unscratch-able itching!)

What model is this? One of the Rotax based models I assume? Like its simplicity.

Yes - its a 650 Rotax. It was called G 650 X challenge and was only built for about 4 years from '08 I think. It and I have very simple requirements of each other.

To be more ernstig - when I initially suggested this thread it was motivated by a desire to share each other’s experience of this most incredible corner of the world we live in - “A world in one country!” as our national tourism agency once said. (And I humbly agree.)

How you get there to photograph it is your business i believe.

Bring it on!

I had the most marvellous trip - the first bit was solo, thereafter with my daughter. Day 1 was a big late afternoon loop up in the Middleburg - Nieu Bethesda mountains:

I have limited fuel range and on day 2 decided to do 125km into Baviaans up to the the first pass (where I crashed on my last trip!) and back to Willowmore. 250km - enough not to get fuel anxious. I have never seen so much water there. I drowned the bike at the third drift after the gate, and spent some time drying it and then I drowned it again going back and spent some time drying it. By then I was very accustomed to it and was singing little songs to myself. I got back to Willowmore with more petrol in the tank than I bargained for so I sang some more little songs. Third drift:

Day 3 was very pleasant. I ate the dust of a pretty blonde girl that is zippy on two wheels - my daughter joined me. Seweweekspoort was closed because of flood damage but on two wheels it was no problem. Turned right and went down Bosluis pass and on to Gamka dam. Fox (Google him as he is a local legend) shouted at us and then we became firm friends.

I stopped at a traffic light between Gamka dam and the Bosluis Pass and I heard revving next to me. I picked up my kind of dice with this oke:

I can highly recommend Riverside Farm at Matjiesvlei, Calitzdorp as a very comfortable stay in a very beautiful valley. We left from here on day 4:

Awesome Andrew, what a stunning Ride you had in one one of the the most beautiful and very underated Areas that People in fancy Cars either don't know or avoid. I did Baviaans solo once on a KTM 990, you can die there, either by drowning or Kudu and Buffalo running Into you. You are a brave Man to do it solo on a Bike after those heavy Rains in the W and EC. Bosluiskloof is one of the most unknown and spectacular views I have encountered. You can drive on a Bike through the backend from Gamkakloof Dam to Prins Albert maar hou dit maar tussen ons. Fox doesn't like us doing it, the Grumpy old Dear. Once you have apologized for entering " his Domain" and mention that you saw quiet a few rare Bird species he warms up en jy gaan nie nog 'woord inkry nie.
Thank you for sharing, those are great Pictures.
