Well well. What a pleasant surprise.

I fitted a starter and battery to it, bled the fuel through and it started almost instantly and it runs perfectly. Not a trace of smoke right from start up. So I took it for a spin around the neighbourhood; high and low range, all the gears and steering and brakes - all seems pretty good. Pity about the vrot body.

Spares car?? Surely not. What next? I am not sure yet.

What would you do?

Here comes another convertible/bakkie:lol:

There are enough good bodies around to get it up to scratch?

If the body is good the rest is normally redeemable. This is the other way round.

Where are the bodies? Trevor has only LWB.

Extend the chassis to fit. Imagin another 5 door LWB. Or Extended Cab. ;-)
Theo has some experience with this already and Mike (Axel606) in the UK as well.

Could be the family camper in future.

Anton showed a picture of a 123 bakkie. So now I think I will put a land rover body on it.

And then put a sticker on the back that says, "What Land Rover meant to build."

A shorty G has a wheelbase of 2.4m, exactly the same as split windscreen and baywindow VW kombis. I would be tempted to build a go anywhere kombi ...

Why waste time and money ??
A Syncro up until 1991 is already a go anywhere kombi

Now that sounds fun.

Work is in the way of a little more spannering on it. I will get the body off one Saturday and then assess it better.

Any chassis rust will convince me to make spares.

I had a pleasant day spannering this lorry. It took 3 and half hours to get the body off and the rest of the day to clean the mud off it. But it looks good apart from some butchering on the front prop shaft and the rear shock mounts have been repaired before which is the stuff I can immediately see. The two body mounts under the footwell are rusted and will probably need replacing also.

Sorry cant post pics anymore.
