Alan. You bought a G without seeing it once? Were you worried?

Should I?

Depends what it is. I knew I could spend a bit and still recover if it was not as expected.

If you think it is a bargain, I think you know enough to make that decision. I must add I have not lost money on a G yet even if I bought it without a chassis. There are enough spares to get your money back.

At least you would save it from a scrap yard at worst.

If it exists.

I need some spares and paid for one that was briefly listed on Gumtree with money that I should use to feed the children. I hope it is real.

This fever is a bad one to catch.

Ask Leonard.

How do I get a wreck from Hermanus to Brits?

Crane truck, flat bed, ship to Luderitz, camel to Upington, train to De Aar, drive it unlicenced on the back roads to Grabouw and then crane and truck to Brits?

OK I think I have it, but any suggestions appreciated.

If wheels are turning and reliable I would make a a frame and take a nice holiday trip.
Did this once to collect a wreck from Freeks world.

I might consider that, but time is the snooker. I wonder if I could fab up some forklift slots that I could u bolt to the chassis and then get a trucker to uplift?

Oh! So you brought that 15k one from Hermanus? From the photos it looks pretty rusted. What's your plan with it?
What about the car transport people? Or how about fly down to CT and hire a bakkie and car trailer one way?

I need to be in CT sometime soon, so I will nip out and see what I have done, and to then make a plan.

It is very badly rusted indeed but I only intend it for donor spares.

Who rents car trailers one way?

I'm actually not so sure. I used them www.trailerhire.co.za when I did a small move with the 2.4m trailer from jhb to cpt 4 years ago and have been using them since. I'm not sure if they do one way with their car trailer though.

If non of the trailer place do one way with their car trailer. I know people use car transport to transport salvage. Maybe give smd a call and see if they can recommend you someone. Just it might be a bit out of their way.

Andrew let us know if we need to help you get the G to a transporting company for shipment up North. I am sure that a few CT folk will be up to the challenge.;-)

Now understand the subject line... Want to save even that one. Or buy one of mine and take both back up? I'll paint it orange and you can have it for half of what the last orange one sold for!

Seriously though, shout if you need help. Trailarent in Goodwood, I think does one way hire. Another place also but forgot the name... Will think.

I am sure that one of the kind Cape Town Bro's will post a picture of the uplift of the rust bucket from the farm where it stood near Stanford, and took it to Pinelands. Now it is a doddle to get it to Brits.

Many thanks Pete and Leonard. You are gentlemen of note.
