Good day guys
I am desperetaly looking for a om 605 td engine to swop into my w460.
I have searched high and low but cant find one. There is a w202 c250td that is just standing here but cant find the owner for the life of me.
I am considering swapping out the om603 for the om 605 or a m112.
The 603 is having overheating problems and i suspect the head is corroded due to a previous owners just had water and not antifreeze in.
Any help into where i can get a engine will be greatly appreciated

What G do you have that it has the OM603 in it? 603 is 6 cylinder 605 is 5 cylinders.

Ahh, ok so it will have an OM617 Diesel engine. Possibly with round doughnut engine mounts which complicates conversions. Why not look around for a good OM617 or even try repair yours. Will probably be cheaper than a conversion. You could also try source a OM617 Turbo although they are like hens teeth they are around.

Yes i understand then Alan. It has round engine mounts from the look of it. Yesterday I pulled the body and cab off of the wagons chassis and saw that the engine and gearbox is mounted too far backward and skew ( front of the engine is more to the right) so it will anyway take me to take off the mounts to get it right as well as I have to repair the chassis as I can see it was in a accident and has a small bend ait the front of the chassis.
I have searched for a turbo and everyone I have talked to could not help me.
Last year I did the head gasket as it was the culprit and as I am a John Deere tech I did some more inspections and found that It was going to cost a lot to fix the engine. I think the head is corroded through between a exhaust and coolant port. I want a TD or a v6 as I want a little more power as I want to build it for overlanding Hence if i was going to remove the mounts to reposition it for getting the engine right i figured i might as well get another engine end refit the mounts for It.
I am doing a whole nut and bolt restoration by myself and the only cost I can think about is the engine and gearbox I will have to buy since I am doing everything myself.

I'm looking for a good OM605 too. I've found one possibly 2. Issue is neither engine run which could result in buying twice. Ideal would be to find a running c250d either accident damaged or parked for no real good reason. I'm also undecided about n/a vs turbo. I do like simplicity. If I find more good candidates I'll pass it on.

(Side note, I have a few round mount vehicles and 2 square mount ones. Was thinking to convert one or 2 of the older ones to new type. Will take some measuring but would make other engine options easier like Alan mentioned)

Always go for the turbo, you can run it NA.

The Standard NA engine has got different pistons and conrods (the small end bearing is smaller diameter and the piston skirts and oil cooling ports are different than the turbo's) so thinking of tubo-ing it later will require an expensive operation.
