Must say, externally I absolutely love the new G. really keeps the old style look and feel.
As for ther interior I am very disappointed. The current model interior should have been retained. Only my opinion.
I think the outgoing model interior was outdated and Mercedes benz did good by upgrading the interior. For the price it's not worth paying so many $ for an 8 or so year old interior when other top notch Mercedes benz models have plush interiors.
I am glad that the exterior retains the original shape. My biggest fear was that they will change the shape. Luckily only a few minor changes are noted.
Very few of the modern shape cars appeal to me. Most of them look awfull (think Evoque shape and the Lexus grille), all computer designed, all following the fashion of the day with sloping roofs, obscure windows, plenty creases and folds, etc. Admittedly, I love sqaure, box shaped cars (think W123 and the older 3-series BMW). The new G-Class (I don't have to say Gelandenwagen anymore) is one that really appeal to me. As in, Yes, I would love to have one!
I think the interior could have been better and here the Audi interiors appeal to me. The fact that a South African girl from the Karoo is in charge of Audis' interiors has nothing to do with that.
What an incredible orator and presenter! No podium, no notes, no prompter screen, never hisitated, never stumbled on his words. I am impressed.
Just a pity I cannot afford the new G and probably never will. Lets also hope it does not suffer reliability issues as some of the previous models did.
All features make it more attractive for more people, except for the price maybe. I just wonder what vehicles the Armies all over the world are going to buy?
Maybe it is part of the strategy, stop building suitable cars to stop wars.
