Real Gelandewagens are rare but so are Gelandewagen model cars. I thought that it would be nice to see how many of the forum users also like and collect model G's.

Here's one of my favorites in my small but growing collection, a SWB cabrio. The roof can be removed and it even has folding seats....:-D

Arnold somewhere in the 80', I think Porsche used a 280GE as backup spares vehicle and it came second on the Dakar, just minutes behind the Porsche and like hours before the rest of the competitors.
Maybe someone on the group can help out here with the right info.

I believe the Dakar winner was a 280GE with M110 engine tuned up to 160kW..
I have heard that the G used as a Porsche backup had the V8 from a Porsche 928S fitted..
