Lot of work if you want to restore it back to factory condition, but not a lot if you just want to make it work. Looks like a good starting project as it appears to have most bits. Noticed it is missing the cylinder head inspection covers and the battery box lid. - Can be bought in Europe if required.

Hi Reenen,

These vehicles are worthwhile to restore, I am glad to see another one being saved.

Do people think this is genuine?
If it is, I see about buying it.

John

Carnarvon is very remote. Google it - and you will see it is in the middle of our outback. I would be very surprised to find a scamster there, especially one selling haflinger engines!

I am not aware of any members of this forum who could go and look for you either.

Andrew, do not be to sure about a small town. I once exposed a scamster in Nababeep. He claimed to have his business in the main street and all I did was to contact the local hotel. They confirmed that no such business existed.

The ".. . . . . good running condition. Fit and go" part does worry me a bit.

That's the bit which made me ask, Why does he have a running engine not in a Haflinger? I have sent him a message asking for pictures, so we'll see what comes back.

Ok agreed, but heck, a haflinger engine in Carnarvon?? I need to meet this boyo.

Btw Dawie, now you mention Nababeep - you ever been from Grootdrink to Lekkersing? There is a pub next door to me where you can.

:):)

I need no pub for Grootdrink om te Lekker sing! o_O

(For our foreigner readers: Grootdrink = Bulk drinking and Lekkersing = Enjoyable singing. Both are actual place names)

Poor engine has been run without oil - As long as the scrapes in the barrels can be removed, the bottom of the barrels can just be cleaned up and will be fine. If you have problems finding replacement pistons of suitable sizes, you can always go for a bigger CC engine by using VW pistons and barrels although you have to do some machining to make them work.
Quite a few people in Europe have made bigger capacity engine, biggest I know of is about 834cc.
