My 2017 G350d’s diff locks will not engage. Vehicle has low mileage and I presume never really been activated. I can’t get the centre red lights to come on. I’ve driven in circles, Reverse and in low range. The orange lights come on but no red lights. Any ideas?
Thanks

AFAIK you need to engage them sequentially so first centre then rear and then front. If centre does not engage I would start looking at why not.
If you select them all in quick succession I think they will engage sequentially. Never tried that.

21 Oct 2022 — The fronts will not engage if the other 2 are not engaged first. So if the fronts engage then the rear may be engaging but the red switch light is not illuminating. As with anything if these are not exercised yearly ...

Check the vacuum pipe coming from the pipe that goes to the brake booster, mechanics can easily bump it and it then pulls out.

It's a very thin pipe that goes to the vacuum solenoids on the passenger side of the firewall.

You'll see on the passenger side behind the turbo there's an aluminium plate that's held on with two 10mm nuts, behind that is the 3 vacuum switches.
Check the rubbers hoses and check if the switches gets power and work. Note that they switch one after the other, I can't remember which one is for the center diff but that one will switch 1st, the rear diff 2nd and last the front.

In 10 years I have never used those buttons then finally this weekend I got a chance.
To get the diffs to engage you actually need to rev the engine a bit more aggressively and drive a bit & applying some turn to the steering. You can hear the clicks as the systems engage but it needs the wheels to slip I think. Disengage before getting onto the hard stuff.
Was on a flooded field and what a blast. Carwash refuse to clean it so will be driving her muddy. Somehow even managed to get mud on the roof both inside and outside the truck :D.

My difflocks always just engaged with gentle forward driving. (Never tried backward) no audible engagement.
